Lockdown may have returned to our lives for another stint, but the team at coffy are here to show you it’s not all bad. Let’s try and make the most of this lockdown and discover the local neighbourhood and beyond while we’re at it. Get out for your daily exercise, gulp in the fresh Autumn air and treat yourself to a coffee, hot chocolate or tea from some of our amazing independent partner stores while you’re at it. Oh, and support local businesses at the same time!
We’ve selected some spacious local parks and areas you can take advantage of with regular walks. Many of our independent coffee partners are en route or within the area, think of them as a cosy pick me up on a fresh, autumnal day.
One of the most iconic parks in London, Hampstead Heath is a wondrous space to get completely lost in (literally, make sure you have a map!). With acres of park to explore, you’ll appreciate a hot drink courtesy of the coffy app while you immerse yourself in the beautiful autumn colours Hampstead is currently sporting.
By the South End Hill entrance, coffy partner store ‘The Nook’ sits directly opposite. Stocking Origin beans and Callets Hot Chocolate, The Nook’s attention to detail is second to none. They carefully pick all their products so expect to find high quality in here. With piles of pastries and cakes to keep your sugar levels up during your venture through Hampstead Heath, The Nook is a must-not-miss coffee stop.
A little further along South End Road, you’ll see a classic British Telephone box – you can’t miss it! But don’t expect to make any calls! It’s been transformed into a cute coffee bar, so a call for caffeine will have to suffice. ‘South End Bean’ combines separate passions for architecture and coffee. The result is an amazing takeaway spot and Instagram worthy backdrop. South End Bean incorporates a traditional British feel with excellent coffee and super friendly staff. Definitely worth visiting before or after your walk in the park!
As you venture through Hampstead high street, you will encounter ‘Coffeehead’, perfectly positioned next to Hampstead station. The ultimate location to fuel you ahead of any London Underground trips (maybe when there isn’t a global pandemic going on). This is the idyllic pit stop on your way towards Belsize Park, the Hampstead Heath Extension or just part of your walk around the town.
Scattered around the suburban haven of Finsbury Park in North London, you’ll find many of our partner stores nestled in the different corners of the area. Right in front of the underground station is ‘Mento’, a florist and coffee shop all in one. Celebrating their Jamaican routes, the owners take pride in serving Marley Coffee, based on the iconic Bob. Mento is a floral sanctuary, and a worthwhile visit to view their spectacular range of fauna as well as picking up a coffee with your trusted coffy app. Fresh flowers and fresh coffee – two of life’s great scents!
A stone’s throw away, on Fonthill Road, you’ll find ‘Klatsch’, a coffee and wine bar. If you’re starting your walk from here, you should know they have a state of the art Astra Storm coffee machine, so your caffeine fix can definitely be taken care of.
If you cut through the park and head towards Highbury on Blackstock Road, you’ll spot ‘Blighty Cafe’, a carbon neutral, all things British and commonwealth, hub. They have many vegan and vegetarian options on the menu, and also serve a bespoke coffee bean blend that’s roasted at their sister site in Tottenham. A household name amongst locals, and worth a visit if you happen to be walking in the area.
You may be entering or leaving the park through the Endymion Road gates and if that’s the case, make sure you walk the extra two minutes to ‘Abraco’. Grab one of their heart warming coffees to go, made with quality Ozone Coffee beans. Couple that with one of their many delicious cake options as your coffy walk treat!
Adjacent to Finsbury Park, you’ll be met with the woodland haven of Parkland Walk, conveniently placed right by coffy partner, ‘Goods Office’. An all day eatery and a perfect spot for a Sunday Roast (takeaway right now), Goods Office serves Vagabond coffee beans, locally sourced in London, as well as great craft beer.
If you feel like venturing a little further, Islington’s Community Garden is a lovely place to stretch your legs and gulp in some fresh air. Extremely peaceful and tranquil, enjoy some me time among a leafy backdrop. As if the community garden doesn’t sound appealing enough, coffy partner store ‘Copperhouse Chocolate’ is nearby on Chapel Market. Serving vegan chocolate, as well as the most rich and moorish hot chocolate in London, there’s no better place to grab your hand warmer en route to the start of your walk. Be warned - you may get some envious looks!
Just up the road sits Barnard park, another green oasis with an adventure playground for the child in you (or actual children!). This is a few minutes walk from our partner store ‘Southpaw’, whose coffee packs a punch! They serve their own exclusive blend from Routes, well known to any coffee connoisseur, making this coffy partner one of Islington’s finest.
If this sounds up your street, download the coffy app to start discovering local independent gems that serve great coffee, while saving money. Our subscription packages start from just £5 a month, that’s as little as £1.17 per cup, and don’t worry about having to pay extra for any alternative milks – they’re included! Plus, you’ll be contributing to saving the high street - think of it as your good deed of the day! Your first 5 coffees are on us, because, well, we’re generous like that.
