The Muddy Puddle

post-3 post-3

What started as an idea to open a food truck to sell vegan empanadas turned into an offer of a fixed site in Stoke Newington that Phoebe and Ben couldn’t turn down – it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. What many don’t know is that the name of their store, ‘The Muddy Puddle’, comes from the mocktail Phoebe and her siblings used to make as kids - a varying mix of Fanta and Coca Cola! Choosing a sentimental name for their store helps to bring out its character and personality while making it an even more appealing destination for families (and their dogs!) to visit and enjoy this quaint and quirky local café.

With Ben being from Argentina and Phoebe from England, they like to fuse their two cuisines together, putting a British twist on local Latin American dishes, producing delicious, vegan friendly items! Some of their dishes also have some Asian inspired flavours as both Ben and Phoebe are hugely influenced by Asian cultures. Ben is the chef and Phoebe the barista. They do everything themselves in store making it an authentic experience as possible. They put their heart and soul into the café, which is evident as soon as you step through the door. The décor is simple, yet inviting, with a Bedouin style couch area to enjoy your lovingly made vegan food, freshly baked homemade vegan treats from Eat by Amy and exquisite Caravan Roastery coffee. Venture outside and you will find the most amazing courtyard - somewhere to enjoy your coffee (or cocktail!) as the summer months approach.

There is an array of vegan dishes on the menu, but most notably Phoebe recommends their burrito and empanadas. They’ve even starting making empanadas fritas and experimenting with many different fillings, including Thai curried jackfruit. You can grab boxes of their delicious empanadas, perfect for any social event or an indulgent evening!
